Some people are saying that the Great Tribulation cannot begin in 2010 or any other time UNTIL we see the temple built and the sacrifices started again and then taken away. They say we cannot start the great Tribulation until we see the abomination of desolation. What is the timing of the A.D. in scriptures? What is the abomination of desolation?

In the New Testament, it's called the Abomination OF Desolation. BUT in the O.T. it's called the abomination that makes desolate.

Dan. 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily [sacrifice], and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Dan. 12:11 And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

So what we see is that there is an abomination at the beginning of the GT or actually 30 days prior to the GT. What is that abomination?

Matt. 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

The abomination is that the son of perdition stands in the Holy Place. Notice that is says for us to understand. Understand What? Understand that he stands in the PLACE/land tract/location. NOT the temple! But eventually the temple is built later on.

2 Thes. 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

So what we see is that 30 days BEFORE the GT, the antichrist stands on the Holy Ground in Israel. Then we flee to the mountains. A great earthquake occurs in Rev. 12. And the gentiles take control over the holy place even more than they do right now. The church goes into the wilderness Rev. 12 for 3.5 years. Sometime during that GT of 3.5 years, the temple is built and the antichrist sits in it. BUT the temple does NOT have to be built BEFORE the GT can occur!

In your bibles where it says "daily sacrifice", the word "sacrifice" has been inserted. It may not be a sacrifice that has been removed. It's the daily that is removed. What is a daily?

Therefore, it looks like "daily" or H8548 - "tamiyd" is "a period of time". Therefore, i believe what is removed is "the time period before the great tribulation". I beleive what is restrained in 2 Thes. 2:7 is the great tribulation. Then the delay is no longer and the great tribulation is allowed to begin. Then we have the son of perdition revealed and he reigns 3.5 years. Then near the end of the G.T., we MIGHT see him then enter a rebuilt temple made by mans hands and sits up the abomination and then GOD says a FINAL NO And comes and destroys the one they call "anti-christ" AND the temple made by mans hands if there is one. I don't think he will really publicly state that he is GOD. To say he is GOD is not necessarily publicly proclaiming it. Dan. 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. Although he probably does publicly proclaim to be GOD at the Abomination of Desolation at the very end.

If events were to occur exactly the way millions of people have longed beleived, it would be too obviously who the "antichrist" is and exactly what the time is. But i believe the prince of the unholy covetnant will be more clever than that and that people will have to be more wise than they think they will have to be.

Desolation: Greek 2050 from 2049, to lay waste, come to nought, end =
end of abomination or abomination that make desolation (come to nought, come to end).

So we see from this study that the Abomination of Desolation is at the very end of this age and therefore we do NOT have to see a temple built, sacrifices start and then eventually be taken away. We do NOT have to wait for all those events for the Great Tribulation to begin!

UPDATE: 7-1-2009 Another confirmation, Updated again 10-28-2009:
Notice how that the beginning question to Jesus is NOT ONLY what is the sign of His Coming, BUT also when would buildings be destroyed!!! The Desolation includes the destruction of all buildings! The Abomination is that the son of peridition/prince of the unholy covenant/antichrist stands at the site of the future Temple. Then he defiles the Temple. GOD is angered and comes and destroys not only the Temple and all buildings but also destroys the antichrist with the brightness of His Coming! The abomination of desolation also called "the abomination that makes desolate". Therefore the abomination and the desolation are two different events. The abomination is the antichrist standing in the Holy Place. THE Desolation is When GOD destroys the Temple, buildings and the antichrist.

Dan. 12:7 "And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; (3.5 years) and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished."
