Accusation: "The cross is pagan. It is among the many symbols that true Christians should avoid. Many people worship the cross. If Christ died in an electric chair, would everyone have little electric chairs around their necks? Christ didn't die on a cross but rather on a straight pole."
Answer: It is TRUE that many people worship the cross. That doesn't mean all Christians who are using the cross are worshiping it. Some Pagans did utilize the cross. A stake or upright pole, such as an obelisk, was ALSO used as a symbol in pagan religions. That means, no matter on what instrument Jesus was crucified, cross or stake, it could be said that it was used as a pagan symbol. Prior pagan usage of the cross symbolism, then, cannot be the deciding factor regarding what instrument was used in Jesusí crucifixion. Historical and archaeological evidence shows that the Romans generally used a crossbar, not a vertical post alone, when crucifying individuals. It is not a symbol to be avoided by true Christians.
To wear a cross does not mean they are worshipping the cross. I can also wear a hat or a tie. That doesn't mean I am worshipping the hat or a tie. Some people are guilty to focusing too much on the cross and some cross the line into worship of the cross such as the song "Old Rugged Cross". Just because some people wrongly focus or wrongly worship doesn't mean that all people that utilize the symbol of the cosss are wrongly doing so. To many people it is just a simple reminder of what Christ did for them. I do love the electric chair and neck noose analogies. But the fact is that Christ did NOT die any other way except via the Cross or stake. The shape of the orginal stake makes no difference. It is of no importance. Either way, we call it the cross and the cross has been passed down to us as a Christian Symbol. It symblizes the sacrifice of death of our Saviour. That is not a pagan symboliztion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dispute_about_Jesus%27_execution_method Wikipedia article which shows some great research and references. The evidence is in. The evidence is overwhelming that Jesus died on a Cross, not a single pole stake. The Cross is NOT pagan for a Christian to use it in rememberance of what Jesus did for us!
HOWEVER, The Cross Is A Symbol Of Jewish Intolerance And Hate Against Jesus and Messianic Believers
