Well, it's as simple as being led by the Spirit of GOD.
I know I was Wrong on just How Strong it would be for July 2008. But I really believe that is so that there will be room for doubt at this point in time. In other words, God wants the people to have Faith. There is enough evidence that is of God. It should not take a 7 or 8 pointer to prove it. However, the much larger deadly BIG quake is still coming! And it will be in the 8's, in the USA between 2009-2017.
Also eventually (2009-17) there will be tsunami's to hit the Gulf Coast as well. There will also eventually be a very large 9+ earthquake off the coast of Oregon. At the occurrence of one of these Tsunami's/Quakes, that will fulfill Rev. 12:15-17. At that time or within a couple of months of that event, the final 42 months will begin and the 2 witnesses of Rev. 11 will start their final 42 months of their ministry in Jerusalem (and everybody will hate them) and the beast of Rev. 13 will rise to great power.
In 2009-2017, America/Israel Will attack Iran. There will also be major explosions in America. Affected cities will include San Deigo and Detroit and NY City and other cities. The next president will be a democrat but their term will be short. FULFILLED via Obama!!! The next president after that will also be democrat but again the term will be short. The Mark of the Beast will start to be geared up in 2009. There will be Civil War in the United States sometime between 2009-2017. Then, China/Russia/Japan/Korea/Vietnam will invade the US sometime between 2009-2015 thereby using the earthquakes and civil war to aid them in their invasion. Christ will return some time between 2012-2018.

The 2008 Chino Hills earthquake occurred in southern California on July 29, 2008. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the magnitude 5.4 earthquake had an epicenter near the Chino Hills area east of California State Route 142, approximately 30 miles (48 km) southeast of downtown Los Angeles, at about 11:42am PDT (18:42 UTC), lasting about one minute.[1]
The quake was reportedly felt as far south as San Diego, as far east as Las Vegas, and as far north as Palmdale. Many buildings, as well as tourist attractions like Disneyland, were evacuated for fear of aftershocks.[2]
Originally estimated at magnitude 5.8, it was the strongest earthquake to occur in California since the 2004 Parkfield-San Bernardino earthquake,[3] and the strongest in an urbanized area of southern California since the 1994 Northridge earthquake.[4]
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has activated Office of Emergency Services (OES).[5]
Predictions
Three small earthquakes occurred in the general area just two months before this event. Those smaller quakes happened in nearby Anaheim Hills, seven miles southwest of Chino Hills.[6] The events were all less than 3.0 in magnitude and occurred over the course of four days.
Just three days before this event occurred, The Orange County Register reported on the unusually low earthquake activity in Southern California. Between July 20 and July 26, 2008, there was not a single earthquake in Southern California exceeding 3.0, which is extremely uncommon. The article speculated that the lull was a precursor to a possible larger event.[7]
Damage
Preliminary reports showed no deaths or significant damage due to the physical location of the earthquake.[8] Most of the infrastructure in the Chino Hills area is relatively new and well suited to withstand a large quake. Unlike previous earthquakes of similar magnitude, like the 1994 Northridge earthquake or the 1987 Whittier Narrows earthquake which had serious structural damages as a result, this quake caused only minor damages.
The 91 Freeway was affected when a small gap caused by the earthquake opened up on the freeway near Anaheim Hills approximately seven miles southwest of the epicenter. The California Department of Transportation concluded that the gap did not pose a danger.[9] A minor landslide near the freeway in Anaheim Hills caused minor traffic congestion. No injuries or structural damages were reported. [9]
California State University, Fullerton suffered some damage in its older buildings. Chapman University in Orange reported a water pipe burst.[10] A water line break was also reported at San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland.[11]
Minor injuries were reported at a senior citizen facility in Brea.[9] At the Saint Jude Medical Center in Orange County, three people were injured when ceiling debris fell onto them.[9]
Some electrical outages were reported in Chino, Chino Hills, Diamond Bar and Pomona.[12]
A ground radar system was knocked out at Los Angeles International Airport.[3]
