1 Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
(It says to gird up the loins of your mind! This means to get control of your mind, "Be Sober". This is telling us to be sober in our minds, NOT high!)

14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
("As OBEDIENT CHILDREN" Not as disobedient, Not as rebellious, Not as lawless. Not according to our former lust in our ignorance. When we were lost and blind we were ignorant, we did not understand why it was wrong to do certian things. But as Born Again Christians, we should mature, grow up and start understanding these things.)

15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
(We are to be Holy in our Conversations. When we say "hey man, pass the joint" or "hey let's get high" or "lets' get fried", that is NOT Holy Conversation but rather UNholy conversation.)

16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
(We are to become more and more like Jesus each day, week, month, year. Jesus would NOT have smoked pot! Do you really think that Jesus would say "let's smoke a joint". NO WAY! He set us a perfect example. We are to be Holy as He is Holy.)

22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
(PURIFIED)

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
(Being born again of the Holy Spirit, being a NEW Person, not the same as you used to be)

24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
(We are talking about grass aren't we! Yes we are! Grass, herbs, weeds, pot, flowers, etc. are TEMPORARY. We are NOT to set our minds on the temporary things of this world. We are to set our treasures in Heaven. We should be WILLING to give up the lust of the things of this world. Any temporary "high" or "relief" you might get from smoking pot, is very soon over with. The next few minutes or hours or even the next day, your pot is gone, your money is gone and you still have the same problems. It didn't solve anything. Actually now you have more problems because you wasted your money on pot when you could have put that money toward food, diapers, electric, rent, gas, family and other IMPORTANT Grown up things. When we were children we did childish things. But when you are grown up, you need to start acting like the MAN or WOMAN that GOD called you to be!)

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
(The Word of GOD is ETERNAL. It really does solve problems FOREVER! This is a matter of temporary instant gratification of pot/drugs/sex VERSUS Eternal Satisfaction!)

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
(laying aside hypocrisies. We don't want to be hypocrites!)

2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
(When we are first converted to Jesus Christ, we are babies. But we must continue to GROW UP!)

5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
(We are the TEMPLE of GOD! The Holy Spirit (GOD) dwells in us. He desires and deserves and Holy and Clean Smokefree Temple. We are to be a HOLY PRIESTHOOD. We are ALL ministers of the gospel, all of us. Our sacrifices should be acceptable to Him. Yes, we should have sacrifice for Him!)

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
(This says we should submit ourselves to the Law of Man! To his laws and to the President/king. See also Romans 13:1-8)

14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
(We should submit our selves to the laws reacted by the President and the Governors and to the Law enforcers, the Police! GOD put these powers in place for our good. When they arrest us, it's because it is the HAND OF GOD punishing us for our sins!)

15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
(Some people try to use libery/mercy/grace as license to sin. There is NO license to sin!)

MYTHS:
Myth: Marijuana is natural, therefore it's not a sin and it's harmless.
Fact: Mercury and Lead are also Natural! But they cause cancer. Just because something is natural does not mean that is is harmless or safe. In fact marijuana smoke DOES CONTAIN both mercury AND Lead and many other toxic natural chemicals! Animals are natural, that doesn't mean it's okay to have sex with them! Marijuna is "natural" doesn't mean we should put this poison in our mouths.

Myth: Pot is harmless. People who drink alcohol and smoke cigarrettes are harming their bodies but pot doesn't harm you.
Fact: Studies have shown that people who smoke pot spend more time in the Emergency room, hospital admissions, length of hospital stays and doctor visits THAN PEOPLE WHO DO NOT SMOKE POT! Studies have also shown that pot DOES increase the risk of injury, fights, arguments, crime and car wrecks. Comparing your addiction with someone else addiction does NOT prove that your addiction is acceptable.
