Most people have a traditional ideal of what marriage is. The most common view of marriage in the western world today is a man and woman who go to a local government court and attain a marriage license in exchange for a fee and permission from the government. Regardless of whether or not the couple goes to a minister, most people would consider these people as legally married and acceptable in the eyes of The Almighty Creator, thereby morally allowed to have sex. Some people may prefer that the couple also get married by a legally ordained recognized minister. But they still require in their minds and religious beliefs that the couple also be legally registered by the local government including legal license document. What does the bible say about all of this? What is marriage in the Eyes of The Almighty Creator? Let's not be guided by our emotions. Let's study marriage in the Holy Bible.
Please read entire article to examine the evidence. Proverbs 18:13 "He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him".
Genesis 2:18-25 King James Version (KJV)
18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Did you read the above scriptures in your personal paperback/hardback bible today or just only on this website?
If only online, I encourage you to please open your bible and read these verses both on our website and in your bible. There is power in reading the real bible. Also, did you pray before beginning to read about this specific subject today? If not, I encourage you to take the time now to pray for understanding of truth.
Where in the above verses did Adam and Eve go to a person wearing a black robe or a courthouse and attain a license to do what The Almighty Creator ordained them to do? Of course in that early point in time, there were no other people or governments of man or courthouses. Nevertheless, they were still considered married in the Eyes of The Almighty Creator God. What constituted marriage? What legalized it? Who legalized it? What made it moral? What made it right? What made it acceptable? Man or God? The answer is clearly God. He brought the man and woman together. They were naked. Man and woman together naked. They were man and wife. No paper, no taxes, no blood test. No license. If they were not Adam & Eve, most religious people today would therefore say the couple were living in sin and shacking up together.
Matthew 19:4-6 King James Version (KJV)
4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Where is the marriage license? Where is permission from a man wearing a black robe? Where is the paperwork?
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
Most people would read into this verse that the couple must have a legal paper document declaring the couple is legally recognized by mankind that the couple is married. But the question is, What is marriage in the eyes of God? If you are married, the bed is undefiled. We must continue to study the scriptures.
Both in Gen. 2 and Matthew 19, it says the man shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh. How? Does the man say unto the woman, Hey, let's go get a marriage license and cleave together? The word Cleave is Strong's H1692 - dabaq, which means to cling, stick, stay close, to stay with, cleave, keep close, stick to, stick with, follow closely, join to, overtake, catch, to be joined together. Does the marriage license make them keep close? Does it make them stick together? Does the marriage license make 2 people become 1 flesh?
Isaac and Rebekah:
Genesis 24:67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took (Strong's word for took here is translated as married 4 times in other places in the KJV) Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.
How did they get married? They had sex & therefore were man and woman/wife.
Abraham:
Genesis 16:2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
3 And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
4 And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.
The above marriage between Abram and the bond girl was via sex. No license and no ceremony.
Jacob with Leah & Rachel:
Gen. 29:20 And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.
21 And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.
22 And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
23 And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he (Jacob) went in unto her (had sex in the tent).
24 And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.
25 And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?
26 And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.
27 Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.
28 And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.
29 And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.
30 And he went in (had sex with) also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.
With both Leah and Rachel, it was the sexual intercourse that made them married. No license. No minister. It happened again with Rachael's maids:
Genesis 30:4 And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife: and Jacob went in unto her.
5 And Bilhah conceived, and bare Jacob a son.
9 When Leah saw that she had left bearing, she took Zilpah her maid, and gave her Jacob to wife.
10 And Zilpah Leah's maid bare Jacob a son.
Other Biblical Examples:
Exodus 22:16 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
17 If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
In the above case, When a man has sex with a young woman who is still with her dad, the man must endow her to be his wife. The fact is she is already his wife because of the sexual act. But now the man must endow her, which means the man must give money to the family which is the case under old covenant law in any marriage regardless of the situation. If the dad refuses to allow the girl to leave, the husband of the girl cannot kidnap her from the dad's homestead. But this does nothing to prove that the couple were not married via the sexual act. The husband has just found himself in a bad predicament and must leave without his bride, perhaps maybe even he might be released from the marriage since his hands are tied.
Deut. 22:28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
Holy Matrimony Declared by Evil:
In the eyes of most Americans and westerners, a couple is married when they have been declared married by a judge or county court clerk. That local official may not even know God. They may even be an atheist, homosexual or maybe even a satanist. Yet most people will accept the official declaration of a homosexual, atheist or satanic person, that the couple is married. Don't get me wrong, I do recognize the God given authority of man's government, even when the government may be corrupt. That is very scriptural and clear cut. But marriage is Spiritual. Marriage is a God-given institution of two people having become one via sexual relations. Their souls have been tied together via sex. Sex is Spiritual. That is why satanists and witches perform sex during many of their occult rituals. Sex is Spiritual. It affects the soul. Marriage via sex ties two souls together to become one with each other. The two souls cleave together via sex.
Sex with Prostitute; A Tie That Binds:
According to the bible, When a man has sex with a harlot/prostitute, they have become one. They are married!
1 Cor. 6:16 KJV "What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh".
In the New American Standard Bible translation (NASB), it says: "Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute (cleaves together) is one body with her? For He says, “the two shall become one flesh.”
How did the man and woman in 1 Cor. 6:16 become one flesh (become married)? Did they go to a minister? No. Did they attain a marriage license? No. They had sex! The action of sex, even a one night stand, even with a prostitute, is the action of getting married!
Even Rape!
2 Sam. 13:11 And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister.
12 And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.
13 And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.
14 Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.
15 Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.
16 And she said unto him, There is no cause: this evil in sending me away is greater than the other that thou didst unto me. But he would not hearken unto her.
Why did Tamar believe that it was a greater evil for Amnon to send her away, than the rape itself? The answer is that she knew the traditional form of marriage was sex of any kind and that divorce was a tremendous shame.
Jungles, Remote places, Pre-20th Century America:
Marriage licenses in the United States did not even exist until sometime in the 1800s. Were all Americans from 1776 to the 1840's or so, not married just because the license did not yet exist? What about in the jungles and rural areas of South America or Africa, where there are no court houses or marriage licenses? Have entire regions gone 6,000 years without even one person being married because they do not have the same kind of government regulation that America has?
Ministers Role in Marriage Union?:
Many people who accept the truth that a marriage license is not required, would still argue that the couple must still present themselves to a wedding ceremony in front of an ordained minister. The problem with that is:
1. If they have a wedding ceremony conducted by a minister or just have a minister declare them married, but they do not attain a marriage license, in most states, they are still not legally recognized by the state as being married.
2. Ministers as representatives of the government of man?
Your typical modern American religious "marriage" occurs like this: The couple obtains a marriage license from the courthouse and then their minister makes that license final. That places the minister as an acting representative of the government of man. He brings himself and the couple under government authority and regulation concerning something that should be a spiritual matter separate from interference from man's government.
3. Where in the bible does it say that a couple must present themselves in any manner to a third party for declaration or authorization of marriage?
We are examining the biblical definition of marriage, not what we think it is or what we think it should be according to our own opinions and our own beliefs. Not tradition, not what our parents taught us, not what a preacher taught us, not what a denomination taught us, but rather what does the bible say.
4. Ministers performing weddings is a relatively recent invention/tradition of man. It wasn't official church policy until the council of Trent in the 15th century that a third party (i.e., a priest), as opposed to the couple themselves, was responsible for performing the wedding. Therefore couples for thousands of years never had marriage licenses nor a minister officiating a wedding ceremony. All of this is recent/new traditions of man. The first marriage licenses were in the 1800's.
Why are we defining marriage, which existed from the time of Adam/Eve, by things that never existed until the last 200-500 years?
Wedding History from: http://www.brideandgroom.com/wedding-articles/wedding-traditions-2.asp
Quote: Up to and during the Middle Ages, weddings were considered family/community affairs. The only thing needed to create a marriage was for both partners to state their consent to take one another as spouses. Witnesses were not always necessary, nor were the presence of the clergy. In Italy, for example, the marriage was divided into three parts. The first portion consisted of the families of the groom and bride drawing up the papers. The bride didn't even have to be there for that. The second, the betrothal, was legally binding and may or may not have involved consummation. At this celebration, the couple exchanged gifts (a ring, a piece of fruit, etc.), clasped hands and exchanged a kiss. The "vows" could be a simple as, "Will you marry me?" "I will." The third part of the wedding, which could occur several years after the betrothal, was the removal of the bride to the groom's home. The role of the clergy at a medieval wedding was simply to bless the couple. It wasn't official church policy until the council of Trent in the 15th century that a third party (i.e., a priest), as opposed to the couple themselves, was responsible for performing the wedding. In the later medieval period, the wedding ceremony moved from the house of the bride to the church. Unquote.
Adultery is not sex before marriage:
Many people with the recently new traditional ideal of what defines marriage, say that people having sex before marriage are committing adultery. But we have already learned from the bible, that sex before marriage is impossible since sex equals marriage. The bible never says "sex before marriage is a sin" or anything similar to that. That is something we all learned in modern churches of Babylon.
We need to learn what the word adultery means. The New Testament word for "adultery" is Strong's G3431 - "moicheuo" which means "have unlawful intercourse with another's wife". You cannot commit physical adultery without either having sex with someone who is married, sexually lusting after someone who is married or cheating on your spouse. Physical adultery is a sexual sin of one or more people who are already married.
Many people would bring up Matthew 5:27:
Matthew 5:27-32
27 "Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: (which means sex with another married person or a married person having sex with someone else)
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery".
The context of Matthew 5:27-32 is married people. It has nothing to do with single people. If a single person could never look sexually upon someone of the opposite sex without sinning, It would be impossible to find a mate without sinning.
Adultery is a sin. Adultery is: having sex with someone who is married, sexually lusting after someone who is married, or a married person sexual lusting after a single person, or cheating on your spouse. Physical adultery is a sexual sin involving one or more people who are already married. Adultery is a form of fornication. There are many sins considered as fornication.
What is Fornication?
Fornication is not sex before marriage, as sex before marriage is impossible, because sex is the action of marriage.
The true definition of fornication includes many sins such as pornography, exhibitionism, bestiality, homosexuality, spouse abuse, etc.
For a good study on the word fornication, please click
here. It is a link to another website, not mine. I do not endorse any of their other articles. But I have found their detailed study of the word fornication to be correct.
Most church people say "The bible says fornication is sex before marriage". I would like to see that scripture because I cannot find it! Matt. 5:32 says "But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery".
In this verse fornication was committed by a married person. How can a married person commit fornication if fornication is sex before marriage and they are already married?
We cannot allow ourselves to define words by emotions & traditions taught to us by traditional teachers of religious Babylon. We must sincerely examine everything we have been taught and prove all things.
Objection: Must be legally married with a marriage license because we are to submit to all the rules and laws of man.
Response: I fully support and encourage obedience to man's government when the government is not interfering with God's Government. Marriage is a business of God's Government. Marriage is a spiritual condition between one man and one woman and God who ordained it. The government of man has nothing to do with a man's and woman's intimate relationship and God's calling for their union. The marriage union is a prototype of the Church. Just as man's government should not have anything to do with a ministers ordination and church function, Man's government should also not have anything to do with the oversight of God ordained marriage, companionship, breeding, legitimate sexual relations and how parents raise their children. All these things are personal between them and God. Man's government has no business sticking their nose in, regulating, taxing or licensing the God-given institution of marriage and personal relationships between a man and a woman.
Objection: Ancient Jewish customs show that a couple was married when the groom signed a ketubah/contract with the bride's father. They were immediately considered married before sex. Then they Consummated the marriage via sex. Then they held the marriage feast.
Response: Your point still shows that a marriage license from man's government is not necessary and that a minister is not necessary. These ancient Jewish customs are just that: Custom/Tradition. Not biblical requirement. But I do agree that the couple should be considered husband and wife immediately upon mutual consent that they have agreed to get married (have sex and live under the husband's household).
Objection; Malachi 2 talks about a "wife of thy covenant", which is a marriage license.
Response: Marriage licenses did not even exist during the writings of Malachi. The words "seek a godly seed" which means offspring which only comes via sex, and "wife of his youth", and "And did not he make one", reflects a context of a couple married via sex/cleaving together during their youth/virginity which God hopes will result in an offspring (one flesh) made from the two. The verse actually proves marriage is sex. A covenant marriage is what we call Biblical Marriage where God has joined a man and a woman together. It has nothing to do with man's government.
Consequences:
Many people will accuse me of promoting fornication. I am not doing any such thing. What would be the fruit of everyone on Earth believing that sex equals marriage? Right now, many people have sex thinking it's meaningless, just immediate gratification. But if they realized and really comprehended and believed that sex equals marriage, they would not take it so lightly! They would not have sex until they were united with their soul mate. That's God's Will. The fruit of the truth is righteousness, not fornication. The virgins that read this article, will now take their virginity even more seriously!
The consequences of man's government authorized marriage is the fact that since man's government defines marriage in the eyes of most people, we have given over what is Holy unto man's authority and man's government has in some cases decided to declare marriage between homosexuals! That is the result of giving man's government power to define marriage!
Technicalities;
Marriage is intended to be between a man and a woman who have never had sex before. The couple should be virgins until their marriage bed. Marriage is when a man or woman has sex with another person of the opposite sex, who is either a virgin or their spouse is dead or they are righteously divorced (divorced due to fornication. Adultery and abuse are forms of fornication).
If they have sex with someone who is wrongfully divorced, then they have committed adultery.
I believe that actual intercourse is required for the two people to be married. Although oral sex and other forms of sex are still sex, it was always actual intercourse that described marriage in the scriptures. It is of course much more intimate than other forms of sex and connects the soul in ways that oral sex does not.
If two virgins have intercourse, they are married until the day that the male departs from the relationship and therefore breaks the marriage covenant by neglect or separation. Then for the rest of his life, He is married to every (and as many) female(s) that he has intercourse with until he departs from that particular partner and neglects and abandons that relationship.
Females are only married to one male at a time. She is first married to the first male that she has intercourse with. She is married to him until the day that all of the following occurs: 1. There is no longer any sex of any kind between her and him. 2. He no longer provides any financial help/support for her or her children. 3. They are no longer living together. 4. He is not wearing a wedding ring that was connected to her. 5. She is no longer wearing a wedding ring from him. 6. She is not wearing any jewelry given to her from him.
Or if one of you die.
Either one of you are eligible to start terminating the marriage and relationship before all of the above 6 requirements are fulfilled if she has any form of sex with another male, or if either of the first 3 requirements are fulfilled or if he has any form of sex with another male or if either one of you has proof that the other one committed some form of fornication against the other one or against Jesus Himself.
If the woman was the one that decided to leave a relationship without a good legitimate reason then she is still belonging (married) to that man (if she really did belong to him in the first place) even if he is no longer supporting her and has now married another woman or women or had sex with many women (because men are allowed to practice polygamy). But if she had legitimate good (biblical or common sense) reason to leave the relationship, then she is legitimately divorced and is free to marry another man.
But if the man is the one that decided to be leave the relationship without a legitimate good reason then he is the one that broke the covenant. And he has abandoned her and she is free to marry another man. And of course he continues to have the liberty to have many wives.
In the bible, the woman is the property of the man. If the man has chosen to abandon the woman, whether there was a legitimate reason or not, if he has abandoned her and no longer supporting her at all, nor her children, then he has thrown away his property and she is no longer his property at all. She's free to marry again.
How to manifest a Divorce: You verbally declare aloud in Jesus Name that you separate yourself from him/her and are free from him/her spiritually, physically & financially. This will be your divorce from him/her. You are free to marry again (have intercourse with another) as long as there is no other living male intercourse sexual partner that is still providing financial support for her or her children. If she still has a male providing child support, she is still married to him, regardless of any other woman that he might be married to as well. She does not have to stay in that marriage. She can cancel it by rejecting all forms of financial support.
If you did not have intercourse with the person, but did have some other form of sexual contact, it might still be good to verbally declare the divorce just in case and ensure that all 6 requirements get met as soon as possible.
Verbal manifestation of divorce only has to be made out loud to yourself and Jesus if the person is no longer involved with you. But if he/she is pursuing you, or if you are still involved with him/her, then you need to make the verbal divorce announcement directly to him/her and declare that you are seeking to meet all 6 requirements. He/she does not have to agree.
Divine Confirmation:
Within the last couple of days before releasing this article, I saw online a posting entitled "Top 15 Biblical Way to Acquire a Wife". It was humorous, but absolutely true. In all 15 examples, it never mentions going to get a marriage license or presenting themselves to a minister of Babylon.
Then on the very morning of the day in which I am releasing this article, I saw a post entitled "Nine Purposes of Covenant Marriage. It was a serious post and was also absolutely true to the facts. Upon later examination, the author of the post was teaching the same as I am teaching this day on this subject! That is major confirmation. I was not searching for the subject and the person who posted it had no knowledge of my article that I was about to release. I was praying for divine confirmation that The Father wanted me to release this article and I received that confirmation!
i know that a lot of people do not believe in divine miracles/revelations in our modern times. They are wrong. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is the miracle working God. He speaks, reveals and confirms to His People. I also understand that you can not base doctrine on divine confirmation alone. I have clearly laid out the scriptures and historical facts which cannot be denied. Our modern ideal of marriage is very new in the context of human and biblical history.
Question: In John 4:18, Jesus said to the woman that the one whom you now are with is not your husband...so she was having sex with a man, but in the eyes of Jesus, she wasn't married to the man that she was currently living with and having sex with.
Answer: A woman can be married to only one man at at time.
Men can be married to many women at the same time. Click here for proof in the bible. But women can not do that. Women are only allowed only one husband at a time. So the man that she was living with (and having sex with) was not her husband because she was still married to a previous husband, one of the previous men, in the eyes of God. God did not approve of her divorce with one of the previous men, therefore she still belonged to one of those men.
Please pray that The Almighty Creator give you understanding concerning whether this article is true.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

What is Marriage In The Eyes of THE ALMIGHTY CREATOR? Copyright 2015 I Saw The Light Ministries
